Minutes for meeting held December 13, 2006 at the Campbellsport Inn.
Information and Tourism: Andrea reported there are no ribbon cuttings planned at this time. She will be sending out an e-mail next week to all members to see who would be interested in soliciting ads or helping in any other way with the Kettle Moraine Booklets. She will also be contacting the Kewaskum Chamber to ask if they would like to help. Andrea is planning on setting up a meeting for the first or second week in January for those interested in helping. Julie reported that there is $1,333.59 in the Tourism savings account.
Business Development: Joel reported that St. Joseph Convent is putting up a new sign The CAB Program will be funding $500.00 of this. Joel also reported that there is a new industrial business that is looking at Campbellsport for a possible location.
To date the CAB Program has committed to and given $6,500.00. A question was posed as to if the program should be continued or wrapped up. The $1,300.00 earmarked in the checkbook will be moved into the money market fund at this time. There will be a board meeting called to address further details about the Program.
Promotions and Events: Julie reported that the Christmas Walk was a big success. She thanked everyone on her committee and all who helped to make it a success. This year’s expenses came in below the $1,000.00 budget, but Julie still asked for a $1,000.00 budget for the 2007 Christmas Walk as more activities may be added. Julie also mentioned that people attending the Christmas Walk commented on how nice it would be to also have the Halloween Caper at the high school. It was felt that the Caper would attract more people if the weather would not be a factor.
Treasurer’s Report: Everything is in order. Julie mentioned that the Campbellsport Fire Dept. Women’s Auxiliary purchased $1,000.00 in Chamber Bucks for the Adopt a Family Program.
Membership Report: One new member – Action Advertiser
Chris Kaminski from Action Advertiser: 18 businesses responded for the ad in the Action Advertiser. This is a bigger response than was anticipated. With this many businesses involved and with an every other month schedule it will take some time before every business has been the featured business. The ad will probably be run every other month, but this expense has not really been budgeted. There will be a special board meeting early next week to make several decisions. Tom will then contact Chris and let her know what decisions have been made.
Old and New Business: The planters are being stored in a local farmer’s shed until March.
Dean brought up the fact that the cedar trees in front of the Welcome to Campbellsport Sign by the dam might need to be removed. The Village is responsible for this property but didn’t want to do anything until the Chamber was consulted. Dean said that he thought that Jerry Ninnemann was involved with the planting of the trees. Tom said he would contact Jerry for his input.
Larry shared a flyer that he had gotten from Fox Valley Technical College about a 90 minute business workshop. Discussion followed on if the Campbellsport Chamber should sponsor a workshop something like this, possibly teaming up with other Chambers. This topic will be explored further before the Annual Meeting. It was suggested that a questionnaire could then be handed out at the Annual Meeting to get everyone’s thoughts on this along with topics of interest.
The next Chamber meeting will be held on January 10, 2007. Tom is checking into time and place.
The Annual Meeting will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at the Campbellsport Inn. Cocktails will be at 6:00 with Dinner at 7:00. The board will discuss further details about the meeting.
