Campbellsport chosen to host Wisconsin Rock, Paper, Scissors Championship
CAMPBELLSPORT, WI-
The Wisconsin Rock Paper Scissors (RPS) executive committee today congratulates Campbellsport for being chosen to host the 2007 Wisconsin Rock Paper Scissors State Championship. Especially tough competition came from St. Germain, De Pere, Wisconsin Dells, and Elmore.
Joel Fleischman, Wisconsin RPS commissioner, said: “I am happy for Campbelllsport and its citizens that they will host the 2007 championships and even happier that general enthusiasm ranked high in all of the bids of cities who we were looking to host this highly prestigious event. It is unprecedented that the same city will host this event in back to back years, but Campbellsport deserves it.”
During the bidding process for the 2nd annual Wisconsin RPS, the committee established close working relationships with most of the short-listed cities, offering advice on different aspects of their bids. “Basically, we went out for drinks at each city and things went from there. We tried not to accept too many bribes, but bribes are all part of the bidding process,” explained committee member Josh Cadman. Cadman went on to say not all cities were aware that they were being considered.
Cadman added, “It is now up to the Wisconsin RPS and the people of Campbellsport, especially the volunteer fire department and the Campbellsport Chamber, to bring it all together.”
The Wisconsin RPS championship will be held on the night of July 3, 2007 at the Fireman’s Park in Campbellsport. Details can be found at www.campbellsport.org. Starting Memorial Day weekend, the first 63 people to sign up at King Pin Lanes in Campbellsport will compete. Entry is only $20 which includes a free T-shirt and free cover charge for the band that will follow. Last year’s winner, James Neuberg, age 11, of West Bend, will defend his title belt and receive a free automatic birth in this year’s bracket. “I know I wouldn’t want to face him in the first round. The kid can throw,” states commissioner Fleischman.
