Minutes for Meeting held July 11Th, at Shennanigan's in Ashford. 18 members and
guests were in attendance.
Chris Schanen gave an overview of the upcoming Farmers Market event that will be
held on Saturday August 4. It will be called the Village Market Celebration. All
vendors are welcomed as well as anyone with food or music, crafts, etc.
The Halloween Caper will be moved to the middle school this year. Chris will get
back to us with the details.
It was mentioned that parking is a problem on Saturday mornings for the farmers
market. This will be a problem that will have to be looked at the the future if
the market continues to grow in size.
Andrea reported that the maps are done and distributed. We also have 2 ribbon
cuttings, Shennanigan's in Ashford and West Bend MetalWorks located on Hwy. 67.
There was nothing new to report in Business and Development.
Joel reported that the Dodgeball tournament went very well. It was well attended
and they had teams from outside of our state which added to the excitement.
Rock,Paper, Scissors went well but there were some minor problems. One being that
they were charged admission to see the event. This was an oversight and will be
worked out next year. Because of the start up cost for the dodgeball event, we are
at a break even situation. And there were some additional expenses that we will
not have next year. There will be a plaque with the names of the sponsors for the
events.
Lois stated that the Chamber phone and emails were busy with questions about the
picnic and parade. The Welcome Baskets keep going out and she walked the parade
route listening for comments on the parade. Some good and some bad.
Julie cashed in a CD. Because of the expenses with the picnic she needed to
replenish some funds in the checkbook. We have several new members: 4 Seasons,
Agnesian Health Care, and Candee Properties.
The Fond du Lac Symphony was a great success. We estimate around 250 people were
in attendance. We will be hoping for better weather in the future.
All financials are in good standing.
There was no old business.
In new business, Tom stated that he has been approached by the owners of the
village trailer park. They are looking for support from the Chamber to stay in
business. It was discussed by Pat Twohig that there is not much we can do as a
Chamber as it is a village Board decision. The trailer park must comply with the
village ordinances, and there are new mobile home court restrictions. Negotiations
are in progress with the village.
The next meeting scheduled will be a social. It has not been decided as to where
the function will take place. It will be posted when the decision is made.
Meeting adjourned at 1:15
