mile southeast of Glenbeulah. Horses can be rented from private stables nearby.
The trail is marked with orange markers. |

Almost all the waters in
the forest area offer good fishing. Both Long Lake and Mauthe Lake contain
walleyes, northern pike, largemouth bass, and panfish. Licenses are available at
area sport shops, the Mauthe Lake Forest Headquarters, or at the Ice Age Visitor
Center. |
|
Swimming:
The beaches at Mauthe
Lake and Long Lake are open. There are bathhouses at these beaches. As there are
no lifeguards provided, strict supervision is advised to stress safe swimming. |
|
Hunting:
The Northern Kettle
Moraine area has the most diversified hunting of anywhere in the state- goose
and duck hunting as a result of the proximity to Horicon Marsh, excellent deer
hunting for both gun and bow, turkey, and fine small game hunting with a
plentiful supply of pheasants, rabbits, squirrel, and grouse. A large number of
pheasants are planted each fall by a number of sportsmen's clubs which are
active in the Campbellsport area.
Hunting is not allowed in restricted areas. |
|
Parnell Tower:
The Parnell
Observation Tower, located at the head of Parnell Trail, affords and outstanding
view of the Kettle Moraine countryside. It is located on the highest point of
the forest (1311 feet above sea level) and is 300 to 450 feet above the
surrounding countryside. |
|
Dundee Mountain:
A conical
shaped hill formed during the melting of the last glacier, is a world famous
kame. The summit 1 mile loop trail has been constructed to the top. Visitors can
have an exhilarating experience of climbing the kame and viewing the outstanding
glacial features.
